About

As far back as I can remember, I’ve enjoyed being in the kitchen, which I believe is the true epicenter of the home.  The women and even some of the men in my family are great cooks. I have also been fortunate to have many great friends and acquaintances who know their way around the kitchen. I’ve learned a lot from each of them.

I used to adhere fairly strictly to recipes and to demand exact measurements from my grandmothers who cook more by look and feel than to the confines of written-in-stone specifics.  Within the past few years, though, I’ve started to become a bit more adventurous and willing to experiment.

As will most likely become apparent–sooner rather than later–I prefer baking to cooking, but I am beginning to enjoy cooking more and more.  In the meantime, don’t be surprised if the ratio of baked goods (i.e., desserts) to everything else is a bit disproportional.

I’m always looking for new can’t-live-without recipes and tips and tricks that make life in the kitchen easier and more enjoyable.  I welcome and encourage your time-tested tips and sage advice here!  So, PLEASE share!!!
